Anne Arundel County Police Department in Maryland was notified of a possible scam where an out-of-state customer sold lab grown diamonds while claiming they were natural diamonds, which are worth significantly more. Searching the subject’s name in LeadsOnline revealed that they had sold items with the same description to other dealers across the state and nationwide. Although there was question as to where responsibility lied in determining the authenticity of the diamonds, the nationwide transaction data found in LeadsOnline showed that the seller had been repeating this scheme all over the country. As a result, he was successfully charged with Theft Scheme and pleaded guilty.
